While Cow Hollow is one of the safest neighborhoods in the city its always advisable to take extra precautions. There are several garages in the area that have overnight security or have limited access during the late hours. If safety is a concern we recommend parking your garage in one that is staffed overnight. If you need to park on the street we recommend parking in areas of the district that are away from bars and nightlife.

One of the most famous spots on the street is the McElroy Octagon House located on the corner of Union Street and Gough Street The home was built in 1861 and is a historic landmark in San Francisco. . Octagon homes became popular during the period as they were desired for their increased living area, more light within the home and were easier to hear, but also stayed cooler during the summer. It is also rumored that the home is haunted and a ghost appears every November 24th.

Nearby is the Marina district with a variety of experiences from open space parks, to food experiences like Ghirardelli Square. We highly recommend doing some exploring as there is a lot to offer in the area.
